As software firms drop off the Toronto Stock Exchange's top performance list, infrastructure and aerospace companies are filling the void.

The Toronto Stock Exchange released its annual TSX30 list, ranking the top 30 public companies based on three-year, dividend-adjusted share performance. As BetaKit first reported, the list highlights a significant shift toward hardware and infrastructure, while software-focused companies like VitalHub, Propel, and Shopify have dropped off.

Celestica, an AI infrastructure and electronics firm, took the top spot for the second consecutive year. BetaKit reports that Celestica's share price surged 2,590 percent over three years, with its market capitalization climbing from $1.9 billion CAD to almost $60 billion as the second quarter closed. CEO Rob Mionis credited this growth to the advancement of technologies in high-growth markets and the enabling of critical AI data center infrastructure.

Other tech entrants on the list include aerospace and defense firms MDA Space, Telesat, and Firan Technology Group Corporation, as well as 5N Plus, an advanced materials company. Hut 8, a former Bitcoin mining company that now provides data center infrastructure, also secured a spot. BetaKit notes that Hut 8 has previously partnered with Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.

While mining companies still dominate the TSX30 at 60 percent, the TSX reports that tech firms added $85.3 billion to their collective market capitalization over three years—the second-highest sector contribution. BetaKit reports that while investor fears regarding AI disruption led to broad sell-offs for software companies, firms providing the physical hardware for cloud infrastructure and AI data centers, such as Hut 8 and Celestica, saw significant market cap increases.
