ESPN Hikes Subscription and Bundle Rates

ESPN is increasing the cost of its streaming subscriptions starting September 17th, a move that will also raise prices for several Disney Plus bundles, as first reported by The Verge.

For standalone services, the ad-supported ESPN Select membership will rise to $13.99 per month from $12.99, while the annual version of the plan increases to $139.99 from $129.99. The ESPN Unlimited plan will move to $31.99 per month from $29.99, with the annual tier rising to $319.99 from $299.99, according to The Verge.

These changes extend to Disney Plus bundles featuring ESPN Select. The Verge notes the following price adjustments:

* **Disney Plus (with ads), Hulu (with ads), and ESPN Select:** Increasing to $21.99 per month from $19.99. * **Disney Plus (ad-free), Hulu (ad-free), and ESPN Select:** Increasing to $32.99 per month from $29.99. * **Legacy Disney Plus (ad-free), Hulu (ad-free), and ESPN Select:** Increasing to $27.99 per month from $24.99.

Bundles featuring ESPN Unlimited will not be affected by these hikes. Axios reported last week that approximately 80 percent of Unlimited subscribers joined via the Disney Plus and Hulu bundle. While Disney implemented bundle price increases last year, The Verge notes this is the first price hike for ESPN since it launched its standalone streaming subscription last August.
