Youth and Adult Charged in Violent Brampton Home Invasion

Two individuals, including a minor, are in custody following a violent home invasion in Brampton, according to reporting from CityNews Toronto.

Peel Regional Police surveillance footage shows three suspects breaking through a rear glass door of a residence near Steeles Avenue West and McLaughlin Road at approximately 4:30 a.m. on June 14, 2026. Once inside the home, the suspects engaged in a confrontation with two residents. Both victims were shot and subsequently transported to a hospital; CityNews Toronto reports their injuries were non-life threatening and they have since been released.

Police took 18-year-old Javaunie Thomas and a 16-year-old, both from Toronto, into custody on July 15. The pair face a series of charges, including attempted murder using a firearm, robbery, aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, disguise with intent, and possession of property obtained by crime. Additionally, the 16-year-old faces a charge for failing to comply with a disposition or sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Investigators recovered a firearm during the probe and noted that Javaunie Thomas had been charged in a separate home invasion in May. While both suspects remain in custody following bail hearings, police are still searching for two additional suspects: a driver of the getaway SUV and a male described as having a heavy build, a dark complexion, and standing roughly six feet tall.
