The $249 wearable captures meeting transcripts via a discreet form factor, raising significant privacy concerns.

Vocci has released a new AI-powered meeting note-taking device in a ring form factor, according to TechCrunch. The titanium-coated wearable, which weighs under 6 grams, allows users to start and stop recordings by double-tapping a button. The device is capable of recording for 8 hours on a single charge and includes a plastic charging case that provides up to three additional charges.

Reporting from TechCrunch indicates the hardware is effective at capturing accurate transcripts, even in loud environments. The accompanying app organizes these recordings into three categories: "Chat" for full transcripts, "Highlights" for short snippets, and "Notes" for AI-generated summaries. Vocci also offers a Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect the device to other assistants.

However, the device's design introduces critical privacy risks. TechCrunch notes that the ring resembles standard jewelry, and while it features a recording indicator light, the light faces the wearer rather than the other participants in a conversation. This design could allow users to record others without disclosure, despite Vocci stating the company encourages users to inform others they are being recorded.

At $249, the Vocci ring is positioned as a more expensive alternative to other note-takers such as Plaud or Pocket, catering to users who avoid pendants, wristbands, or phone-attached gadgets.
