Two weeks after a man draped in a Palestinian flag was targeted with anti-immigrant rhetoric and violence, Toronto police are still searching for a suspect.

**OPINION:** As first reported by CityNews Toronto, the Toronto Police Service (TPS) continues to describe a violent encounter as a "suspected" hate-motivated assault, yet the suspect remains at large. While the city's streets become a playground for emboldened bigots, the lack of an arrest in a targeted attack of this nature raises serious questions about the urgency of policing accountability and the protection of marginalized groups in our community.

According to reporting from CityNews Toronto, investigators are searching for a man involved in an incident that occurred on September 5. Detectives state that a victim was standing near the intersection of Sheppard Avenue and Yonge Street, draped in a Palestinian flag, when he was approached by an unknown man.

CityNews Toronto reports that the interaction was unprovoked. The suspect pushed the victim and directed anti-immigrant comments toward him before fleeing the scene. TPS officials indicated that the individual was last spotted heading south on Yonge Street.

As of September 19, the TPS has released a description of the wanted individual. CityNews Toronto reports the suspect is described as a man between 55 and 60 years old, approximately six feet tall with a heavy build and clean-shaven. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a beige baseball hat, green shorts, grey running shoes, and a grey Nike shirt featuring "JUST DO IT" lettering.

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity to contact investigators.
