Co-founders of Microsoft-acquired Maluuba launch a new venture to prove that AI simulating the physical world can manage business operations autonomously.

Former Maluuba co-founders Sam Pasupalak, Sumit Pasupalak, and Kaheer Suleman have launched Skyfall AI, a Toronto- and San Francisco-based venture focused on developing AI world models. Unlike large language models (LLMs) that rely on text data, world models are trained on movement, spatial, and physical data to create 3D representations of environments, which proponents argue enables the integration of cause and effect over simple pattern matching, BetaKit reports.

Skyfall AI aims to demonstrate "enterprise super intelligence" by automating a company's operational functions—including product, marketing, and finance—with minimal to no human intervention. To test this, Skyfall announced it will acquire a "micro-B2B-SaaS" business for up to $1 million USD and install an AI CEO, with the goal of doubling the acquired entity's revenue within six months. The venture is backed by investors including Garage Capital and Inovia Capital.

Sam Pasupalak told BetaKit that world models are intended to outperform LLMs in areas critical for leadership, such as high-stakes decision-making under uncertainty and long-horizon planning. Karamdeep Nijjar, a partner at Inovia Capital, noted on LinkedIn that Pasupalak is focused on real-world applicability rather than static benchmarks.

While the goal is full operational autonomy, Pasupalak acknowledged that world models cannot replicate human relationship management. Regarding the impact on labor, Pasupalak stated that the first acquisition target—likely owner-operated or employing one to five contractors—would receive "generous departure package[s]" and job search support. He argued that automating monotonous operational tasks would eventually allow humans to focus on creative and artistic work.
