Meta Deploys Muse Spark 1.3 Amid Massive AI Infrastructure Spend

Meta Platforms Inc. has released Muse Spark 1.3, which the company describes as its most powerful artificial intelligence model to date. According to reporting from the Financial Post, the social media giant is spending hundreds of billions of dollars in an effort to keep pace in a rapidly evolving AI race.
Meta's chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, stated in an interview that the new model represents the company's largest performance leap so far, specifically regarding agentic capabilities and coding. Wang asserted that Muse Spark 1.3 is competitive with Anthropic's Claude Fable 5.1 and outperforms OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol in coding tasks, though he noted that OpenAI is expected to release a more advanced model called Astra soon. While developers can currently access and pay for Muse Spark 1.3, Meta plans to integrate the update into Meta AI and its social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. Regarding the model's internal blueprints, or weights, Wang stated that Meta has not yet decided if it will release the weights for Muse Spark 1.3, though it still intends to release them for the previous version, Muse Spark 1.2.
