The former Raptors point guard was recognized for his leadership during the 2019 championship and his extensive community contributions.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow presented former Toronto Raptor Kyle Lowry with a key to the city on Sept. 19, 2026, during a free block party at Maple Leaf Square. The event, held in partnership with Tangerine, celebrated Lowry's nine seasons with the team and his role in securing the city's first and only NBA championship in 2019.

As part of the festivities at Jurassic Park, the Toronto Raptors unveiled a statue featuring the team's mascot wearing Lowry's number 7 jersey. The team has also scheduled a ceremony for Jan. 10, 2027, to raise Lowry's number 7 to the rafters at Scotiabank Arena.

Mayor Chow highlighted Lowry's impact beyond the court, citing his ownership of the Toronto Tempo, Thanksgiving dinners for families facing hunger, and toy drives for children. CityNews Toronto further noted his community work through the Lowry Love Foundation. Raptors general manager and executive vice president Bobby Webster described Lowry as "the greatest Raptor of all time," praising his determination and grit.

Originally from North Philadelphia, Lowry joined the Raptors in 2012 following a trade with the Houston Rockets. While he spent his final professional seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat, he signed a one-day contract in July to officially retire as a Raptor.

Speaking at the event, Lowry told reporters that he gave his "blood, my sweat, my tears" for the fans, stating that his career would not have been possible without them.
