According to TRON Web, the B-right/V R2 is built on the BTRON-specification, which seeks to occupy a specific niche. It is designed to be more compact than the "gargantuan" personal computer operating systems of today—which TRON Web notes have grown to the size of mainframe systems—yet more capable than the LAN-based network computers proposed in the U.S. during the late 1990s.

From a hardware perspective, the synergy is evident in the minimal requirements. TRON Web notes that a PC with an Intel 486DX microprocessor, 16 megabytes of main memory, and a few hundred megabytes of hard disk space is sufficient to run B-right/V R2. This allows the hardware to be manufactured at a cost comparable to a network computer, while maintaining the full functionality of a standard PC. Unlike the model pushed by Sun Microsystems Inc.—which relies on a browser and an Internet connection via StarPortal to deliver the StarOffice productivity suite—the BTRON-specification system does not require an Internet or LAN connection to perform data processing.

TRON Web highlights that the system even features a hypertext filing system at the system level.

One of the most significant claims regarding the R2's software capability is its multilingual environment. TRON Web states that B-right/V R2 supports approximately 130,000 characters, primarily kanji, utilizing outline fonts. This marks a shift in the BTRON lineage, which evolved from the "3B" operating system used in the MCUBE hardware platform (released in 1995) and the micro-BTRON-specification "B-right" used in the Seiko Instruments Inc. BrainPad TiPO PDA.

Ultimately, the B-right/V R2 is positioned as a high-efficiency bridge. By utilizing a micro kernel design, the same BTRON3-specification source code can be deployed across diverse hardware, from PDAs to IBM-PC/AT compatibles, suggesting a level of software-hardware fluidity that avoids the bloat of traditional OS upgrades.
