The multi-category retailer will open its first Canadian store at Vaughan Mills, signaling a broader growth strategy across the country.

JUMBO, one of the leading multi-category retailers in Greece, is preparing to enter the Canadian market with a massive debut location in Ontario, according to reporting from BlogTO.

The retailer will open its first Canadian store at Vaughan Mills, occupying approximately 110,000 square feet of retail space. The new location will take over the site of a former Toys "R" Us store that closed earlier this year and will be situated near entrance 3, adjacent to Pro Hockey Life and HomeSense. The store will offer a wide range of home essentials, baby products, seasonal decor, and toys.

This opening serves as the starting point for a larger national expansion. BlogTO reports that JUMBO plans to open between five and 10 stores across Canada within its first three years of operation. The lease for the Vaughan Mills location will be sold to Fox Group Jumbo Canada.

The expansion comes as Toys "R" Us continues to contract in Canada. BlogTO notes that the toy retailer entered creditor protection in February after owing at least $120 million to landlords and vendors, resulting in the closure of 53 Canadian stores over the last two years. An Ontario court has since approved plans to sell the Toys "R" Us Canada business to three separate buyers.

Founded in 1986 as a toy retailer, JUMBO has grown into a significant European presence with 53 stores in Greece, 20 in Romania, 10 in Bulgaria, and six in Cyprus, alongside franchise partnerships in Serbia, Kosovo, and Albania. The company reported record group sales of €1.233 billion ($1.9 billion CAD) in 2025, representing a growth of over seven per cent from the prior year.
