The 19-year-old Tampa Bay Rays prospect joined fellow Canadians JoJo Parker and Nolan Perry in a showcase of the nation's emerging baseball talent.

Canadian catcher Nathan Flewelling earned MVP honors at the annual All-Star Futures Game after hitting a two-run home run, according to Sportsnet. The 19-year-old, currently playing in high-A with the Tampa Bay Rays, has maintained a .261/.394/.496 slash line with 16 home runs and 47 RBIs across 73 games for high-A Bowling Green.

Flewelling attributed his recent success to off-season work focused on defensive play and hitting efficiency. He told Sportsnet he worked on cleaning up his bat path and improving his ability to handle velocity to ensure a consistent approach and identify pitches he could attack for damage.

Flewelling was joined at the Philadelphia event by two Toronto Blue Jays prospects. JoJo Parker, a first-round pick selected eighth overall last summer, recorded an RBI double against pitcher Miguel Sime Jr. Sportsnet reports Parker is currently batting .242/.381/.426 with nine home runs, 47 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases in 72 games at low-A Dunedin.

Also representing Canada was right-hander Nolan Perry. The 22-year-old is returning from reconstructive elbow surgery after missing the entire 2025 season, as reported by Sportsnet. In the words of Blue Jays farm director Joe Sclafani, Perry "absolutely crushed" his rehab, progressing through low-A Dunedin and high-A Vancouver before reaching double-A New Hampshire.

Perry, who is ranked No. 96 in MLB Pipeline’s mid-season top-100, noted that his velocity has increased since his surgery, reporting that he has been hitting 94 and 95 mph more easily during spring training. In his Futures Game appearance, Perry allowed one run on a walk and a hit-batter, concluding his inning when Roldy Brito was thrown out attempting to steal third base.

The American League defeated the National League 6-1 in the showcase event.
