A leaked pitchbook reveals a massive slate of AI data centers and carbon capture projects ahead of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s investment summit.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is preparing to pitch a series of high-stakes technology and infrastructure projects to 100 global investors in Toronto this Monday. According to reporting from BetaKit, the Canada Investment Summit aims to secure more than $1 trillion CAD in investment over the next five years.
A leaked 66-page pitchbook obtained by BetaKit lists 167 projects seeking financing and strategic partnerships. The document highlights a significant push into AI-ready infrastructure, particularly in Alberta. These include the AHI AI Hub of Innovation by developer Havenz Smart Communities, which is currently under construction, and the Redcliff AI Data Center Campus by BW Velora, which seeks equity and debt for a $14.5-billion build. Other data center bids include the Grande Prairie Project, also by BW Velora, which remains in the permitting phase and seeks $2.4 billion, and a New Brunswick hub proposed by Calgary-based Beacon Data Centers.
The prospectus also emphasizes climate and energy deployment. Montréal-based Deep Sky is seeking $328 million USD for its Deep Sky One direct air carbon capture facility in Alberta, while BC-based Svante Technologies is seeking between $420 million and $500 million CAD for the Northern Spruce Project, a bioenergy and carbon capture development.
Beyond AI and climate, the list includes diverse sovereign tech ambitions: a $1.3-billion photonics hub from Toronto's Xanadu, a $500 million CAD quantum semiconductor facility from Vancouver-based Photonic, and a $5.2 billion USD valuation for Telesat's Lightspeed low-Earth orbit satellite network. The Prime Minister’s Office told BetaKit that the pitchbook was leaked and that no official prospectus was shared with the media.
