Upscale Indian Dining Expands in Toronto

Toronto's Indian culinary landscape is shifting toward high-end expansion, as reported by BlogTO. Two upcoming restaurant openings signal a move toward opulent dining experiences led by established industry figures.

Ambica Jain, the founder of the Michelin-recommended Adrak Yorkville, is launching a new concept called Raani. Slated to open at 360 Bay St. in the coming months, Raani is described as a bold dining room inspired by the grandeur and opulence of India's princely states during the 18th and 19th centuries. While the specific opening date and menu remain undisclosed, the venture follows the success of Jain's previous high-end work.

Simultaneously, Shaaz, known as a contemporary institution in Scarborough specializing in Hyderabadi cuisine, is expanding with a second location on the Danforth. The new downtown-adjacent spot will feature stylish interiors and service paired with regional dishes, including mutton roasted in ghee and masala-spiced chicken lollipops.
