The construction tech startup is expanding into the United States with a multi-year agreement to support the production of over 1,250 homes in Arizona.

Toronto-based Promise Robotics is launching its U.S. expansion after securing a multi-year commercial agreement with DR Horton, the largest homebuilder in the United States by volume, BetaKit reports.

Under the deal, DR Horton will utilize Promise's "factory-as-a-service" capabilities and integrated platform to support the production of more than 1,250 single-family, largely single-story homes for buyers in the Phoenix, Arizona area. To support this effort, Promise plans to open a 16,000-square-foot factory in Phoenix, which will serve as its first facility outside of Canada and its third overall, following sites in Edmonton and Calgary. The Phoenix hub is expected to start manufacturing in early 2027.

Promise CEO Ramtin Attar told BetaKit that the deal is "very significant" because it demonstrates that a company of DR Horton's scale trusts the startup's ability to build homes faster and more affordably than traditional methods. Brad Conlon, senior vice president of strategic innovation at DR Horton, stated that the integrated platform provides a new capability to help the homebuilder increase production capacity, improve cycle times, and bring more predictability to operations.

Promise uses AI to translate home designs into production plans and robotic instructions, utilizing off-the-shelf robots equipped with proprietary software and tooling. According to Attar, the company has completed over 200 builds for clients including Mattamy, Hopewell, and Brookfield, and is currently contracted to build over 2,500 homes in total. The 80-person startup aims to grow its headcount to 100 by the end of 2026 as it expands its manufacturing capabilities to include plumbing, HVAC, and insulation.
