A $1 million investment will support research into whether hormone therapy can alleviate brain fog and migraines in menopausal women.

TD Bank Group has committed $1 million to support research focused on improving the quality of life and health outcomes for women in midlife, according to reporting from the Financial Post.

The funding is designated for the Sinai Health Foundation to expand a study conducted at the Weston and O’Born Centre for Mature Women’s Health. The research aims to determine if menopausal hormone therapy (MHT) can safely and effectively reduce symptoms of brain fog and migraines associated with menopause.

According to the Financial Post, evidence-based treatments specifically tailored to these cognitive and migraine symptoms remain limited despite their prevalence. The study will utilize neuropsychological testing and advanced brain imaging to evaluate the efficacy of MHT. The goal of the research is to potentially enable safer, more personalized treatment options for women.

Anna Iacobelli, Senior Vice President of the Metro West Region at TD Bank Group, stated that the investment is intended to address an overlooked area of women's health and build upon the legacy of Hilary Weston, who helped shape the Weston and O’Born Centre for Mature Women’s Health.
