The streaming giant is packaging its internal developer tools and operational frameworks for outside businesses via a new dedicated portal.

Spotify is transitioning its internal technical tools into a formal business venture with the launch of technology.spotify.com. According to TechCrunch, the new site serves as a hub for both paid and open-source services designed to help developers manage the complexity and cost associated with scaling software, even in the era of AI.

While Spotify has offered tools to the tech community since 2020—beginning with the open-sourced developer portal framework Backstage—the company is now expanding its commercial offerings. TechCrunch reports that Spotify has been selling its software development platform Portal since 2024, its experimentation platform Confidence since 2023, and more recently, Xirp, a tool for managing AI coding agents.

Tyson Singer, Spotify's SVP of Technology & Platform, noted that the consumer-facing streaming service is supported by hundreds of cross-functional squads shipping code daily. He argued that while AI accelerates software creation, it also increases operational surface area and complexity, creating a need for the "agent-ready" core services Spotify is now selling.

Spotify has not disclosed the specific revenue generated by these enterprise sales in its financial reporting. The new technology website does not list pricing, requiring interested companies to contact sales directly to discuss their requirements.
