The former world No. 1 will not participate in the 2027 season as the league attempts to restructure following the loss of Saudi funding.

Jon Rahm, a two-time major winner and former world No. 1, will not participate in the 2027 season of LIV Golf, according to reporting from Sportsnet. The announcement came during a Wednesday hearing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of New Jersey, where Rahm's attorney, John Beck, stated that Rahm reviewed the proposed terms for "LIV 2.0" and decided against participating.

Rahm's departure comes as the league seeks to emerge from bankruptcy after the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia announced it would cease funding the circuit after the 2026 season. While BC Partners Credit recently announced an initial investment payment to support a player-owned, team-focused model, Rahm is opting out. Rahm previously earned over $100 million during his three-year tenure, during which he was the individual points champion each year.

Whether Rahm can return to the PGA Tour remains uncertain. According to Sportsnet, the PGA Tour generally imposes a one-year ban on players following their final LIV event, though PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp made an exception earlier this year for Brooks Koepka. Rolapp previously offered financial deals to Rahm and two other major champions to return, but those offers were not accepted.

Rahm remains a member of the European Tour and intends to compete in Dubai and Abu Dhabi later this year. He recently withdrew from the Spanish Open as his wife, Kelley, is expecting their fourth child.
