New agentic AI capabilities and a Tensor G6 chip lead the charge, but hardware changes remain minimal as the top-tier model sees a price hike.
Google has unveiled its 2026 hardware lineup, headlined by the Pixel 11 series. While the devices feature a heavy infusion of Gemini-powered AI, the physical design and internals remain largely evolutionary, according to reporting from TechCrunch and Ars Technica.
**AI-First Features** Google is shifting toward "agentic AI," enabling U.S. users to use Gemini to book rides, order coffee, or order groceries. The AI can also place calls to businesses for appointments or table reservations, with users able to review transcripts or take over the call at any time. To support these tasks, Google is integrating a suite of connected apps, including Zocdoc, Ticketmaster, OpenTable (U.K.), iHeartRadio, Pandora, Angi, Thumbtack, Wix, Fever, Get Your Guide, Localiza, Granola, and Otter.ai.
Other software additions include: * **Communication Tools:** A new translation feature for podcasts, voice messages, and videos, alongside a camera accessibility feature that translates sign language into text. * **Productivity:** The "Rambler" dictation product and a redesigned live transcribe interface. * **Camera AI:** "Magic Capture," which extracts high-quality, auto-cropped, and unblurred photos from video clips, and an evolved "Magic Cue" that surfaces contextual suggestions from across apps. * **Search:** The "Circle to Search" gesture is now available directly within the camera.
**Hardware and Specs** All Pixel 11 models are powered by the Tensor G6 processor. Google claims the chip provides 20% better power efficiency and 25% faster browsing. The Pro models feature a brighter display (3,600 nits) and a new telephoto sensor that allows for 32% more light. The Pro phones have seen an upgrade to 120x super zoom, with the Pro XL specifically utilizing its new image signal processing for "magic zoom." The base Pixel 11's super zoom increases to 30x from 20x.
Ars Technica notes that the Pro models introduce "HiLight," a ring of RGB LEDs built into the flash assembly. This indicator signals when Gemini is listening or thinking and can alert users to calls from favorite contacts via WhatsApp or standard phone calls.
However, some hardware changes are regressions. Ars Technica reports that battery capacities have decreased across the lineup, with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold dropping by 200 mAh. Additionally, the thermometer has been removed from the device.
**Pricing and Availability** Devices are available for preorder starting with 256GB of base storage. Pricing is as follows: * **Pixel 11:** $899 * **Pixel 11 Pro:** $1,099 * **Pixel 11 Pro XL:** $1,299 * **Pixel 11 Pro Fold:** $1,899
TechCrunch reports that while the Pixel 11 and Pro prices remain the same as last year's 256GB models, the Pixel 11 Pro XL has seen a $100 price increase over the Pixel 10 XL due to rising component costs.
