Driver Charged After Collision Leaves Two Paramedics Critically Injured

A Milton man faces multiple charges following a winter crash in Madoc that forced emergency responders to treat their own colleagues.
A 34-year-old resident of Milton, Ont., has been arrested following an extensive investigation by the Central Hastings OPP into a catastrophic collision involving an ambulance, according to Global News Toronto.
The incident occurred on Feb. 2 at approximately 3 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 62 and Highway 7 in the village of Madoc. The crash left two Hastings-Quinte paramedics with life-threatening injuries. Global News Toronto reports that the paramedics were initially taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to a trauma centre in the Kingston area.
Two individuals who were inside the transport truck were also transported to the hospital as a precaution.
On Monday, Sept. 14, the OPP arrested the transport truck driver. He faces two counts each of criminal negligence, careless driving, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, all resulting in bodily harm. The driver has been released and is expected to appear in a Belleville court on Oct. 1.
