The acquisition of the FDA-registered manufacturer adds a nationwide support network and instrumentation placement to Diazyme's proprietary technology portfolio.
Diazyme Laboratories, Inc. has acquired Alfa Wassermann Diagnostic Technologies LLC (AWDT) from CARR Biosystems, according to a report from the Financial Post.
Based in West Caldwell, New Jersey, AWDT is an FDA-registered seller and manufacturer of reagents and chemistry systems. Diazyme, a California-based medical device manufacturer certified by ISO 13485 and cGMP, plans to integrate AWDT's operations into its own. The deal allows Diazyme to leverage AWDT's established instrumentation placement and nationwide customer support network to expand the availability of its proprietary immunoassay and enzyme diagnostic test reagents.
Dr. Chong Yuan, Managing Director of Diazyme Laboratories, stated that the acquisition strengthens the company's capacity to support laboratories, researchers, veterinarians, and physicians. Peter Napoli, CEO of Alfa Wassermann Diagnostic Technologies, noted that the move is synergistic and will improve the test menu and services provided to customers. Napoli will remain part of the management team to oversee the AWDT business.
