Chad Kelly Returns to Argonauts Practice Following Neck Injury
The starting quarterback was a full participant in training ahead of Thursday's home opener against Calgary.
Toronto Argonauts starting quarterback Chad Kelly has returned to full practice participation, as Sportsnet first reported via a team injury report.
Kelly, 32, was forced to exit the previous game against the B.C. Lions after suffering a neck injury. Sportsnet reports the injury occurred late in the first half of a 26-12 victory when Lions linebacker Darnell Sankey delivered a hit to Kelly's head and neck area as the quarterback was sliding to the ground. The CFL subsequently fined Sankey for the high hit.
Sportsnet reports that in his fourth season with Toronto, Kelly has completed 70.4 per cent of his passes, recording 2,323 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
While Kelly and linebacker Cameron Judge returned to the field, Sportsnet notes that offensive lineman Kendall Randolph, linebacker Owen Goss, kicker Lirim Hajrullahu, and punter John Haggerty did not participate in practice.
The Argonauts are scheduled to play their first game at BMO Field this season on Thursday against the Calgary Stampeders. The team had been playing on the road previously due to the FIFA World Cup in Toronto, per Sportsnet.
