Insight Partners leads a massive funding round for the cybersecurity firm as Cloudflare reports that bot traffic has surpassed human activity online.
Spur Intelligence, a Lake Mary, Florida-based cybersecurity startup, has raised $200 million in a funding round led by Insight Partners, TechCrunch reports. Founded in 2017 by two former Defense Department engineers, the company provides technology designed to help enterprises separate legitimate human users from bot traffic to better identify threats and fake users.
According to a written statement from Insight's Thomas Krane, organizations currently face a critical blind spot because they can observe online activity but cannot see the underlying infrastructure, such as residential proxy networks, anonymization infrastructure, and sophisticated criminal VPNs.
The investment comes amid a surge in automated internet activity. Cloudflare founder and CEO Matthew Prince recently posted on X that agentic traffic has grown so rapidly that bots have now exceeded human traffic online for the first time in history, according to a Cloudflare traffic report. Prince noted that he previously expected this milestone to occur in early or late 2027, but the shift happened sooner than anticipated.
