The Nam family is expanding their viral banh mi concept from Markham to the city, focusing on a scratch-made approach.

The Nam family, known for operating several Vietnamese restaurants in Thornhill and Markham, is bringing their Banh Mi Nana concept to Toronto, according to BlogTO. The expansion follows the success of the Markham location, which BlogTO reports sold 2,000 sandwiches on its opening day in the summer of 2025 and frequently sells out of stock.

Unlike many establishments, Banh Mi Nana features only one item on its menu. BlogTO reports that the restaurant distinguishes itself by making every component of the sandwich from scratch in-house, including the bread, pork floss, cold cuts, and banh mi butter.

The move comes as the family prepares for another city venture, Nam 6ix, which is scheduled to open on July 22. While a specific opening date for the new Banh Mi Nana location has not been disclosed, the team confirmed via Instagram that the restaurant will be located near Yonge and Finch.
