Apple has officially entered the era of CEO John Ternus following the departure of Tim Cook from the top role this week, according to TechCrunch.

Ternus, who previously served as the company's hardware chief, signaled an aggressive start to his tenure. In his first memo, Ternus promised a “huge launch next week,” a timeline that places the upcoming iPhone event under his direct leadership immediately upon taking office, TechCrunch reports.

While Ternus assumes the CEO position, Tim Cook will remain with the company as Executive Chairman. TechCrunch notes that Cook will focus on policy relationships, citing recent public challenges regarding map labels as an example of the balancing act required in that role.
