The Toronto-based firm is using a $225 million Series C war chest to buy niche software companies and integrate a shared AI operating stack.

Toronto-based AI rollup Beacon Software has acquired Haize Labs, a New York City-based startup specializing in AI reliability, according to BetaKit. The acquisition aims to expand Beacon's operating technology stack by integrating Haize's expertise in stress-testing AI agents for real-world use.

Under the deal, the Haize team will establish an applied AI research group within Beacon. Leonard Tang, the co-founder and CEO of Haize, will lead this division as vice-president of AI research. While the financial terms of the purchase were not disclosed, BetaKit reports that Beacon recently secured $225 million USD in Series C funding in June to support its aggressive acquisition strategy and the development of its shared tech platform.

Beacon CEO and co-founder Nilam Ganenthiran stated via LinkedIn that the company intends to bring AI to the "real economy" through software that businesses already trust. Beacon's portfolio currently serves over 22,000 institutions and businesses across sectors including logistics, finance, recreation, and education. Ganenthiran noted that Haize's ability to make AI reliable is critical for these clients.

BetaKit reports that Haize has previously worked with major entities such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Deloitte, Air Canada, and Epic Games. However, Beacon was specifically attracted to Haize's work with smaller enterprises, such as immigration law firms and family restaurants. Since its June funding round, Beacon has expanded its portfolio from over 30 companies to 45.
